Adopted By A Dog

Sorry for the bad picture, but there wasn't much light this morning.

The black dog is Lily. She showed up a few months ago wearing that collar and she hasn't left since. She eats here, sleeps here, and plays here and that's the way she likes it.

The problem is that we have already adopted two dogs, Layla and Lucy. We do not need or want a third dog. We have tried to figure out where she came from, but no luck. Someone was taking care of her and trained her, but they remain to be seen.

Even though Lily is a sweetheart, we are going to try to find her a home. I will miss her, but I will not miss feeding her!

This is Lucy!

Lucy-Goosey

My dogs are crazy. But my Lucy is always really cracking me up.

I think she is trying to tell me something. She dragged their old swimming pool up to the back patio and has been sleeping in it.

What do you think she is trying to say?

A Day Of Recovery

Here in the Nixon household, we are all super tired from the hectic Easter weekend, which you can take a look at in yesterday's post if you like.

We are all crashing from our sugar highs and even the dogs are comatose from all their running and carrying on this weekend.

Lucy is the brown dog and Layla is the white one. They are both loads of fun and completely untrainable! But we love them anyway!

The Easter Bunny made it to our house and I sure hope he made it to yours too.
My son does not eat any type of candy, but has recently become totally enamored with junk food. So the Easter Bunny loaded up Jake's basket with cinnamon rolls, cookies, powdered donuts and sports themed eggs.

The Easter Bunny filled my basket with lots of Reese's peanut butter treats! My personal favorites! He also brought me three potted flowers. I think these are going to look lovely once they are planted in our front yard. It is truly sad that I do not have a green thumb and that they essentially received a death sentence once they were given to me. But hey! My calla lily from last Easter has revived itself, so maybe these will last? I will keep you posted because I am sure you are already on the edge of your seat.

Remember: One sure thing to get you out of an Easter slump is jewelry! No, seriously! So go on and treat yourself here and feel proud that you are supporting handmade.
Be good!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone is having a delightful Easter! I have just come out of my Easter candy coma!

We had a terrific weekend though, so I cannot complain. Saturday we attended the annual community East egg hunt in China, Texas. They were unable to send out fliers this year, so 600 eggs were hunted down by 13 children! My son was the biggest, but he still had a good time.
Afterward, we all went to the church for popcorn and door prizes. My son, Jake, won a quacking duck that he wants to give his new baby cousin.

Later on we headed home and decided to keep on having some fun in the sun. We let our dogs out and ran around the front yard playing Frisbee.

Well, my husband and son played Frisbee and I mostly read a book!

I think that my dog, Layla, had the best time of all!

I did my best to stay out of the sun, being blond and all I burn easily!

My friends have teased me that yellow bucket hats are the new black. Let them tease. If I get some sun I will freckle and peel! No one thinks that is attractive.

You may even notice that I am wearing my Petal earrings. I love them! They even work for Easter egg hunts and I wore them today with my new Easter dress. I highly recommend them, by the way. Of course, some may say I am biased!

Today we had a non-traditional feast of Hebrew National hot dogs, deviled eggs, and cupcakes at my parents' house. Laugh if you would like, but it was fabulous!
Now back to my hot dog induced coma!
